February 4, 1931 – May 10, 2023
Margaret Elfe, age 92, of Suring, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, in Bonduel. Margaret was born in the Town of How, Oconto County on February 4, 1931, daughter of the late Albert and Lillie (Pahlow) Rakow. On September 3, 1949, Margaret was united in marriage to Elliot A. "Fritz" Elfe at St. John Lutheran Church-Hayes. Fritz preceded Margaret in death in 1990. Fritz and Margaret farmed in Suring where they raised their six children. Margaret was hardworking and humble; she had a strong faith and was a lifetime member of St. John's in Hayes. She lived her faith, and her church was very important to her. She was a member of St. John's Ladies Aid and Missionary League. She was also a member of the Suring Homemakers and enjoyed volunteering her time. She was honored to be selected as the Grand Marshall of the Suring Labor Day Parade and to receive the Senior Citizens Award for 2013. Margaret loved her family with all of her heart and was a wonderful mother and grandmother, she will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind.
Margaret is survived by: four children, Joanne (Hal) Erickson, Mark (Joan) Elfe, Ruth (Steve Neal) DeNamur, and David (Janine) Elfe; a son-in-law, Jim Dickerson; a daughter-in-law, Denise Elfe; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; sisters, Irene Cudworth, Ruby (Paul) Bruns, Alice (Stan) Bahn, Althea (Alger) Schuettpelz, and Helen (Ray) Heimerl; and brothers, Ruben (Cathy) Rakow and Hilbert (Delores) Rakow. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by: her husband, Fritz; children, Kristy Dickerson and Gary Elfe; her parents; and siblings, Roland, Arnold, Edgar, and Frieda.
A funeral service for Margaret will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 8905 St. John's Rd., Suring, Wisconsin, at 11:00am on Monday, May 15, 2023, with Rev. Nick Buchholz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 9:30am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church and School.
