Obituary

Margaret A. (Ziemer) Hoffman, formerly of Gresham, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at the age of 79 at a local nursing home.  Margaret was born on July 11, 1943, to the late Henry, Sr. and Rosalia "Cele" (Beilke) Ziemer. Margaret graduated from Gresham High School in 1961. After high school, she was employed for five years by Employer's Insurance in Wausau, WI. Margaret married Roger "Buck" Hoffman at St. Francis Solanus Church in Gresham, WI on June 18, 1966, where she was a lifelong member.

After marriage, Margaret went for training to become a CNA. She was later employed by the Shawano-Gresham School District as a tutor for Native American students in the Title IV program at both the elementary and later, high school levels. She worked at both Gresham Community School and Olga Brunner Elementary School in Shawano retiring in 2007 after 28 years of dedicated service to education. She greatly loved students she tutored and was an excellent role model for them!

Margaret was passionate about learning and loved to read. Her hobbies also included gardening, walking, watching gameshows, baking and taking care of others. She was especially good at taking care of her mother and her two bachelor older brothers in their later years. The courage and bravery she showed in the face of her Parkinson's disease were an inspiration to all who knew her. She truly lived out her favorite poem, "Don't Quit!".

Margaret is survived by her two sons, Gerald Hoffman of Oshkosh, and Reverend David Hoffman of Suamico; brother, Gerald (Donna) Ziemer of Portage, IN; as well as a sister-in-law, Renee Pieper of Gresham; and brother-in-law, Donald Hoffman of Red Springs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger "Buck"; parents; four brothers, Roland Ziemer, Jake Ziemer, Robert Ziemer and Henry "Chuck" Ziemer; as well as a nephew, and aunts and uncles.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 17, 2022, at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church, Gresham, with Fr. Jim F. Trempe officiating. Visitation will be held at 9:00 am until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Unity Hospice and Evergreen Nursing Home for their wonderful care of Margaret.
