Maria J. Kasten, 76, of Shawano, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2026, in Shawano. Maria was born on September 26, 1949, in Milwaukee to the late Florian and Frances (Fearson) Feger. On December 14, 1984, she was united in marriage to Kerwin Kasten in Shawano. The couple spent a wonderful 38 years together before his passing in 2022. In her free time, Maria enjoyed plastic canvas crafting and crocheting. She loved spending time with her children, grandson and great-grandson and cherished the moments with them. Maria was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend; she will be deeply missed.

Maria is survived by her children, Melody Feger, Roger Steinbring, Jr., and Chris Steinbring; grandson, Matt Kasten; Barbara Johnson; great-grandchildren, Noah, Mya, Ava and Seth; and friends, Clarissa Bublitz, Nancy Wegner, Mindy Murphy, Kaso Weso, Awan Weso, Devin Boyd, Shawn Tourtillott and Xavier Tourtillott.

Maria is preceded in death by her husband, Kerwin Kasten; siblings, Tony Feger and Karen Huebsher; and parents, Florian and Frances Feger.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano from noon until 2:00 pm with a time of sharing at 1:30 pm.
