Marian Jane Pape, age 85, of Shawano, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2024, in Shawano. She was born on August 27,1938, to the late Lavern and Elvira (Gerbig) Richter in Clintonville, WI. She graduated from Shawano High School in 1956 and was the owner of Oak Drive Kiddie Care Center, the first state licensed family day care center in Shawano. Marian grew very close with the families of all the children she cared for. She was united in marriage to Fred Pape on May 13, 1961, and together the couple were dedicated to God and their faith. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed baking, and especially loved making her special chocolate chip cookies. She loved the holidays and family gatherings. Marian was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending as much time as she could with her family, her greatest joy.

Marian is survived by: her husband of 63 years, Fred Pape; her children Patty (S.O. Lenny) Pape, Pam (Jay) Jones, Jim (Lara) Pape, and Peggi Salzman; her grandchildren, Anna Jones, Kyle Jones, Abby (Marc) Aguirre, Riley (Katie) Jones, Emma (Peter) Condit, Henry Pape, Tyler (Hannah) Salzman and Cody (S.O. Amara) Salzman with one great-grandchild on the way; her siblings, Howard (Phebe) Richter and Arlene (Jerry) Wilson; She is survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by: her parents Lavern and Elvira; and her siblings, Lowell (Audrey) Richter, Gordon (Donna) Richter, Doris (Ira) Bruchs, Marvin (Mary) Richter and Roger Richter .

A funeral service for Marian will be held at 11:00 am on Friday July 19, 2024, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with pastor Loretta Waegli officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home starting on Thursday July 18, 2024 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and again on Friday at 9:30 am until the time of service. Burial will be held at Lake Drive cemetery following services.
