Marie Elizabeth Brown, age 94, formerly of Waukesha, passed away on June 23, 2024, at her home in Shawano. Marie was born on February 24, 1930, in Bruce Crossing, Michigan to the late Matthew and Esther (Joupperi) Korri. She worked as a machine operator at Briggs and Stratton in Milwaukee and was proud to be able to help during the war efforts; then later worked as a cashier at Red Owl in Waukesha. On August 17, 1948, Marie was united in marriage to Robert E. "Bob" Brown in West Allis. The two owned a dairy farm in Michigan before moving to Waukesha. The couple spent 57 wonderful years together before Bob's passing in 2006. She loved volunteering her time at St. Vincents De Paul, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Shawano food pantries and the hospital gift shop in Shawano. In Marie's free time, she enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, and was an avid reader after Bob's passing. Even at 94 years old, Marie never gave up her independent ways and always made time for her family. She cultivated strong friendships within her neighborhood community. Marie was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She will be dearly missed.

Marie is survived by her children, Jeff (Shelley) Brown and Jody (Marty) Fredenberg; grandchildren, Miranda (Rob) Meyer, Robin (Milton) Rivera, Adam (Danielle) Brown, Aaron (Lauren) Brown, and Weston (Melissa) Fredenberg; five great-granddaughters with 2 great-grandsons on the way; sisters, Alice Linna and Elaine Essig. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Bob; son, Corey Brown; siblings, Edith Bezotte, Bruce Korri and Shirley Kowaccyk; and parents, Matthew and Esther.

A memorial service for Marie will be held at 11:00 am on Friday June 28, 2024, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Pastor Robert Meyer officiating. Inurnment will be held at Sacred Heart Mausoleum following the service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of service.
