Obituary

Our beautiful beloved, Marie C. "Amow Sōhpamah – Honey" LaTender began her journey to the spirit world on Friday, November 22, 2019, in Green Bay, with loved ones by her side.

Honey was born on October 23, 1941, in Keshena, to Simon and Marcella (Lawe) LaTender. She lived her whole life on her homelands, the Menominee Reservation, and was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Neopit. Honey graduated from Antigo High School and earned her technical diploma in Antigo as well. She worked all her life and retired from Menominee County Health & Human Services in 2007 after serving her people for 37 years there. While working there Honey's heart was so full of love and compassion that she opened her home to many children throughout the years because she didn't want them to be taken to foster homes off the reservation.

Family love was so important to Honey, she instilled so much unconditional love in everyone who was blessed to have her in their lives. Many have enjoyed the comfort of her home and she enjoyed cooking "econ and beggs" for all who woke up there. She was "Gramz" and "Auntie" to so many other than her own.  She loved spending time at her lake lot with her family and opened it up to anyone who wanted to come enjoy. She especially loved cruising on her pontoon. Honey was a wicked massive Packer fan and also a fan of our local baseball teams. She always looked forward to her football/baseball Sunday Fundays.

Honey is survived by her children: Ronna (Jaime) Guzman, Pershing "Sport" (Pamela "Hootsie") Frechette, Georgia (Lyle "Lil Mann" Welch) Frechette, George "Big Boy" (Destiny) Frechette, Candace (Anthony "Scott") Leaman, and Marnie Frechette. Special Daughters: Michelle (Gary) Chevalier, Lisa (Paul) Gruner, Lydia Garcia, Lynette LaTender and Coleen Waubanscum. Her 36 Grandchildren (who never did anything wrong in her eyes): Brandon, Paul, Tara, Dallas, Vincent, Jaime, Anthony, Jerrit, Loren, Tashina, Richard, Shanice, Kyle, Angelina, Robert, Darius, Allen, Jordan, Mequon, Kaycee, Dillon, Alex, Rosalyn, Lowell, Chad, Danielle, Tashya, Nicholas, Raymond, Norman, Lyle, Shaelyn, McKensie, Jaydnn, Aiden and Alizah. Honey also had 51 great-grandchildren who were all bright sparkles in her eyes. She also had many very special nieces and nephews.

Further survivors include her three brothers and sisters-in-law: Simon "Mayone" and Carol LaTender, John "Hub" and Linda LaTender, and Lowell "Stan" LaTender; sisters-in-law Annette LaTender and Francis Kakwitch; brother-in-law Harley (Diane) Lyons and good friend Douglas Duquain.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Simon and Marcella; her son, Lowell "Nam" LaTender; three brothers, Warren "Poochie" Kakwitch, Donald "Smacky" LaTender, and Paul "Cletus" LaTender; four sisters, Ronna Ann LaTender, Fransesca "Det" LaTender, Myrna Lyons, and Faith "Tubby" Weso; and one brother-in-law, Don Weso, Sr.

A funeral mass to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at 2:00 pm at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Neopit, WI. Family and Friends may visit Honey at her home at W3039 Rabbit Ridge Road from Sunday November 24, 2019 after 2:00 pm until the procession leaves for church on Tuesday. A parish wake service will be held at Honey's home at 7:00 pm on Monday, November 25, 2019.

"We love you to the max Mom, from the bottom of our hearts, and that's the honest to God's truth"

The family would like to thank Bellin Hospital and their staff, ThedaCare Hospital and their staff, Dr. Culhane, and Unity Hospice, all for caring for our mother.
