Mario Joseph Waupoose Sr., of Keshena, age 51, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 in Appleton, surrounded by his family. Born on December 21, 1965 in Shawano, Mario is the son of the late Norman Sr. and Mary (Brooks) Waupoose. After Mario graduated from Menominee Indian High School, he enlisted in the United States Army. On August 30, 1997, Mario was united in marriage to Laura Pyawasay at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Keshena. He was a life-time log hauler for Menominee Tribal Enterprises. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing softball and baseball. In boxing, he was Golden Gloves, Silver Gloves and went to the boxing Olympics, where he became a champion and he also coached little league.
Mario is survived by: his wife of 19 years, Laura; children, Cierra Dickenson, Mario Jr. (Raven Webster), Marlee, Maurice, Baby Hula, Donavan, Barron, Norman Sr., Elmer, Kyle, Ian, Lorretta, Roger and Lenny; siblings, Duane (Mary) Waupoose Sr., Bryant (Tina) Waupoose Sr., Val (Mark) Self Sr., Muriel Waupoose and Rose (Shannon) Waupoose-Tucker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Norman Jr. and sister, Susan Marie.
A funeral service for Mario will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, June 2, 2017 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Keshena followed by m ilitary rites conducted by the Veterans of the Menominee Nation. Visitation will be held at Fr. David Barrett Hall in Keshena on Thursday from noon until the time of services on Friday. Parish wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.Visits: 0
