IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marion J.
Voelz
November 9, 1929 – January 29, 2025
Marion J. Voelz, age 95, passed away peacefully at Shawano Health Services on Wednesday January 29, 2025. Marion was born on November 9, 1929, in the Town of Center to William C. and Viola (Holz) Uhlenbrauck. Following graduation from Appleton East High School, Marion worked for Appleton Power and Light Company then moved to Milwaukee to be a secretary for Calvary United Methodist Church. Marion was united in marriage to Eugene W. Voelz on June 29, 1957, at Center Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Eugene and Marion dairy farmed and operated Voelz's Sugar Bush in Tilleda. Marion also worked part time as a postal clerk for the Tilleda and Bowler offices for numerous years. She was a 4-H leader, a member of the Kitchen Maids Homemakers and an active member of the Salem United Methodist Women-Red River. Marion enjoyed cooking meals and baking for family, the maple syrup crew and the church bazaar. Eugene would put her on the tractor each summer to bale hay while he stacked the wagons. Maybe that instilled her love for mowing the lawn with her pompom ball cap on her head.
Marion is survived by her four children, Dale (Rebecca) Voelz of Tilleda, David Voelz of Tilleda, Miriam (Allen) Durkey of Clintonville, Rosanne (John) Marquardt of Wittenberg; nine grandchildren, Maureen (Don) Thompson, Cynthia (Lance) Koester, Diane (Damian) Henry, Benjamin (Jennie) Voelz, Hannah (Mitch) Rossow, Holly (Dennis) Lehman, Heather (Brian Diener) Durkey, Gail (Reese Sipiorski) Marquardt and Amber (Adam) Sykes; nine great-grandchildren, Roselyn Lehman, Kayson Lehman, Lydia Koester, Levi Koester, Briar Henry, Josefine Henry, Jameson Henry, Ryker Rossow and Baby Boy Sykes; Sisters-in-law, Pam Uhlenbrauck and Luella Brei. She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; parents; in-laws; brother, Willis (Bernice), Harold (Marion) and Alan; sisters, Ethel in childhood and Lois (Howard) Reed; brother-in-law, Herb Brei.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday February 3, 2025, at Salem United Methodist Church in Red River with Pastor Daniel Kim officiating. Burial will be in Evangelical United Brethren Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Sunday February 2, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and again at the church on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
Marion lived her life to serve her family, church and Savior Jesus Christ. This kind, gentle, loving lady will be missed by all. The family would like to thank the staff at Shawano Health Services for their extreme kindness and care, Marion loved all of you.
