Obituary

Marvin John Herrmann, age 91, went to his Heavenly home on Wednesday October 7, 2026 in Neenah, WI.

Marvin was born August 12, 1935, the son of the late Gotthelf and Edna (Boettcher) Herrmann.

On October 26, 1956 Marvin was united in marriage to his favorite dance partner, Sharon Aschenbrenner. She proceeded him in death on July 28, 2017.

Marvin was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church, where his faith remained an important part of his life. He was an alumnus of St. James Day School and took great pride in serving as an usher, a role he began in the seventh grade. His longtime commitment to the church reflected his deep faith and the special place St. James held in his heart.

Marvin and Sharon farmed and raised their four children in the Town of Richmond. In addition to farming, Marvin worked for Werbelow’s Beverage for 30 years, delivering pop. He truly loved his job and often spoke fondly of his time there. After leaving Werbelow’s Beverage he went to work at Equity, where he happily pumped gas and took on many other tasks until his retirement.

Beyond farming and work, Marvin and Sharon shared a passion for dancing and fishing. They spent many Saturdays at area dance halls, polka dancing the night away. Marvin took great pride in the trophies they won together and in the 50 years they spent on the dance floor at the Shawano County Fairgrounds. From helping build and maintain the dance floor to enjoying countless hours dancing on it. A great joy that may have surpassed their love of dancing was babysitting some of their great grandchildren in retirement.

Marvin is survived by his four children: Kevin (Sheila) Herrmann of Shawano, Deb (Allen) Hohensee of Gresham, Rick Herrmann of Shawano, and Jim (Lori) Herrmann of Shawano.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Bobbi Jo (Josh) Ladwig, Dan (Crystal) Hohensee, Jessica (Tony) Miller, Jennifer (Gary) Schick, Rebecca (Tyler) Lohmiller, and Travis (Rachel) Herrmann, Tara Marten.

His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Emma, Georgia, and Finley Ladwig; Abigail, Riley, and Jacob Hohensee; Brennen and Tristan Fowler, Aiyana Miller; Levi (Jada), Weston, Reese and Jordy Schick; Kaylee and Owen Lohmiller; Ava and Jaxton Herrmann; Danica Marten, Freyja, and Micah Beyer. As well as one great-great-granddaughter, Viviana.

He is further survived by one brother Johnny (Marlene) Herrmann of Two Rivers, Sisters-in-law Marcie Herrmann, Martha Herrmann, Darlene Herrmann, Germaine Tischauser, and Jean Theil

He is proceeded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon; brothers, Vernon, Wilbert, Roger, Father and Mother-in-law; Joe P and Francis Aschenbrenner, Sisters-in-law; Arlene and Delores, Brother-in-law; Robert Aschenbrenner and many other relatives.

Funeral service will be held at St James Lutheran Church, at 11:00am, Saturday October 24, 2026. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30am until the time of service. His final resting place will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano, WI. In lieu of flowers please direct memorials to St. James Lutheran School Wil Kleinschmidt Scholarship fund.
