Marvin "Joe Brown" James, age 71 of Keshena, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012 at his home. Born on October 20, 1940 in Keshena, he was the son of Mary Jane (Askenette) and the late Dennison James. After attending two years of Tech School, Marvin worked as a machinist at FWD in Clintonville and later at Harwal in Gresham. He also worked as a Jailer for the Menominee Tribal Police and as a laborer at Menominee Tribal Enterprise. When not working, Marvin enjoyed having fun at the lake lot with his family and friends. He also enjoyed shooting pool, riding in the woods, doing crossword puzzles, playing scrabble, going to bingo, and taking care of his Buddy and Peppy. Marvin was a member of the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Neopit. Marvin is survived by: his long time companion, Rosie Madosh; 8 children, Patricia (Tony) Hildebrand of CO, Gerald Lawrence of Keshena, Meredith (Jay) Little of IL, Rosemarie (special friend, Robert) James of Keshena, Donna (John) Cote of Cadott, Lloyd James of KS, Shawnee Gauthier of Keshena, Randal Madosh III of Keshena; 21 grandchildren, Alyson, Alivia, Annalise, Brandon (Xai), Ian, Cole, Felicia, Jackii, Rebecca, Jake (Nicole), Thomas (Coral), April, Samantha, Cheyenne, Wyatt, Landri, Isaiah, Samiyah, Jessie, Joseph III, Louise; 12 great-grandchildren, Galaxy, Carter, Aurora, Lennon, Afernee, Terrell, Jason Jr., Rainy, Lena Jo, Ti'yanna, Cobe, Joseph IV; 4 Godchildren, Rebecca "Booski" Komannekin, Kinipaway "Nippers" Valier, James "Duckers" Brisk, Michael Fish; his mother, Mary Jane; 10 siblings, Violet (Robert) Tucker of Neopit, Karen (Clifford) Wilber of Shawano, Melvin (Sherry) James of Keshena, Gordon (Leone) James of Keshena, Robert (Ruth) James of Oshkosh, Anthony James of Shawano, Deanna (John) Boivin of Neopit, David (Bridgett) James of Deforest, Stanley (Patti) James of Suring, Glenda (Dale) Kaquatosh of Keshena; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Marvin was preceded in death by: 2 sons, Joseph "Little Joe" James, John John James; his father, Dennison; 2 brothers, Dennison "Tonto" James, Richard James; and a nephew, Corey Tucker. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, June 22, 2012 at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Neopit with the Rev. Robert Rank officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the family residence located at N1242 Rainbow Road, Keshena from 4pm on Wednesday until the procession leaves for the church on Friday.
