"Grub" Ninham
December 16, 1955 – July 7, 2024
Mary A. "Grub" Ninham, age 68, passed away on Sunday July 7, 2024, in Appleton. Mary was born on December 16, 1955, in Keshena to the late Joseph and Stella (Caldwell) Smith, Sr. She was united in marriage to Mike Ninham in Keshena. The couple spent 16 wonderful years together before Mike's passing in 2010. Grub was trained in boxing by Howard Mack and won Wisconsin's Tough Lady Championship. She was a humble woman and would help anyone in need. Grub volunteered her time at St. Anthony Catholic Church. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bingo and cooking.
Grub is survived by her children, Michelle (Daniel) Smith and Roland Knox; seven grandchildren, Danielle Smith, Tanaya Knox, Conrad Rockman, Kewaskum Knox, Joseph Knox, Bernard Knox and Stella Knox; and brothers, Joseph "Puffer" (Dorothy) Smith, Sr., Gerald T. Smith and Stephen "Kooka" Smith. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Grub is preceded in death by her husband, Mike; grandson, Sagjewegies Smith; siblings, Warren "Sarge" Smith, Bernard "Smitty" Smith, Sr., James Smith, Mary "Tweet" Smith; a nephew, Bernard "Gronks" Smith, Jr., and parents, Joseph, Sr., and Stella.
A memorial gathering for Grub will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday August 10, 2024, at Grub's residence at N3483 Cottage Ave, Neopit.
