Mary L. Irish, age 98, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2022 at her home in Shawano. She was born Mary Murphy on May 17, 1924 to the late Dr. James and Eulalia (Landgraf) Murphy in Appleton. Mary was a graduate of Clintonville High School and the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point with a degree in home economics. She taught for thirty-four years in middle school and high school in Laona, Gresham and Shawano and retired in 1985. On August 19, 1947, she was united in marriage to Harold C. Irish in Clintonville. He preceded her in death in May of 1995.

She is survived by her two sons, James of Shawano and John (Lynne) of CO; daughter, Jane (Tom) Daul of Oneida; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Becky) Irish, Kristin (Andrew) LaFave, Joshua (Kaitlyn) Daul and Zachary (Holly) Daul; nine great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Colin and Brennan Irish, Jude and Levi LaFave, Nora Daul, and Violet, Cooper and Charlie Daul; sister, Margaret Trainor, brother, Gerald (Caroline) Murphy and sister-in-law, Marie Murphy.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son, Harold M.; parents; great-granddaughter, Lilian LaFave; brothers, James, Thomas and John Murphy; sister, Betty Stanton; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Stanton and Robert Trainor.

There will be a private, family Celebration of Life for Mary at the Green Bay Botanical Garden at a later date. Inurnment will be in Laona Cemetery next to her husband Harold.
