Mary Ann Steinke, age 88, of Leopolis, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton. Mary was born on November 20, 1931, in Gresham, to the late Raymond and Laura (Ready) Schmidt. On April 3, 1948, Mary was united in marriage to Allen "Swampy" Steinke in Leopolis. Allen preceded her in death on August 12, 1988. She lived in the Gresham/Leopolis area all of her life. Mary worked at Eagle Knit, Patio Restaurant, Westerfield Oil, and Shawano County Jail as a cook. She loved camping, watching baseball games in Leopolis, and going to the cabin in Vilas County.

Mary is survived by: her daughters, Sue (Dennis) Radtke of Suamico and Kathy (LeRoy) Hillmer of Montello; her sons, Tom (Lynn) Steinke of Shawano, and Mike (Debra) Steinke of Shawano; son-in-law, Gordon Schwersenska; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; her siblings, Donna Jaeger of Minneapolis, Warren "Corney" Schmidt of Pella, James Schmidt of Leopolis, and Robert Schmidt of Leopolis; and sister-in-law, Ruby Schmidt of Shawano. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her husband; two daughters, Sandra and Sally Schwersenska; her parents;  brother, John "Jack" Schmidt; brother-in-law, Jim Jaeger; and sister-in-law, Jeanne Schmidt.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham on Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 10:00 am until noon. Spring burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery in Leopolis.
