Obituary

Mary F. Weber, age 87, of De Pere, formerly of Shawano, died peacefully on Friday, April 15, 2016. Mary Fran was born on June 25, 1928, in Evanston, IL, the daughter of the late Sigwald and Edith (Robertson) Johnsen. She attended Lyons Township High School in La Grange, IL. While in high school, she performed in operettas as the featured soloist. She moved to Glendale, CA after high school. Mary graduated from Glendale Junior College, and later transferred to the University of Southern California, majoring in voice and elementary education. While attending USC, she was the soloist for her sorority at a special event with Bob Hope in attendance. Mary loved to dance and met her husband, David Weber, at a Shawano County Park dance while her family was on vacation at the lake. On August 27, 1949, Mary and Dave were united in marriage in Glendale, CA. She lived most of her life in Shawano and appeared in four productions at the Mielke Theater. She loved to ski, especially in Iron River, MI at Ski Brule Mountain and staying at her chalet in Brule Ski Village. She also was a snow bird, traveling to Destin, FL in the wintertime later in life. Mary Fran was a member of the Shawano United Methodist Church and was active in the choir. She was a soloist for weddings and funerals. She loved to spend time in Door County at the many beach areas with the family over the years watching the grandchildren and enjoying the sunsets at Fish Creek.
Mary Fran is survived by: her husband of 66 years, Dave; one son, Gary Weber of Green Bay; two daughters, Cindy (John) Manders of De Pere, and Barbara (Mitch) Eastman, of Green Bay; six grandchildren, Jason Manders of Green Bay, Matthew Manders of Hancock, MI, Chad (Jessica) Eastman of Fort Meyers, FL, Cory (Amanda) Eastman of Madison, Chris Eastman of Green Bay, and Maiya Weber of Green Bay; and three great-grandchildren, Jameson, Annabelle and Kennedy.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen of Grand Junction, CO, her parents, and one sister, Joan Johnsen.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Rev. Ted Tromble officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is establish in Mary Fran's name.
