Matthew Erwin "Matt" "Mattchu" Van Buren, age 50, passed away on Sunday April 9, 2023, in Shawano after a courageous 10 ½ yearlong battle with cancer. Matt was born in Waupun, Wisconsin on March 4, 1973, to Erwin and Karen (Eckley) Van Buren.  In 1991, Matt graduated from Shawano High School and went on to further his education at NWTC. After graduating from NWTC, he began his career working at Deleers Millwork where he remained until retirement. On December 31, 2015, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Jessica Schroeder at St. Jakobi Lutheran Church. Matt was very active and enjoyed playing volleyball, bowling and golfing. He also loved spending his time camping and snowmobiling. He served as president of the Lunds Sno-Birds for many years.  Matt's friends meant the world to him. His kindness touched many lives, and he would do anything to help someone in need. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Matt is survived by: his wife Jessica Van Buren; his father Erwin (Gail) Van Buren; siblings Kay (Wendy Mathison) Kangas, Kent (Megan) Van Buren, Rebecca Van Buren, Barry (Sarah Robbins) Van Buren and Brenda (Ken) Bahls; his mother-in-law and father-in-law Patty and Joe Schroeder; his sister-in-law Amanda (Ben) Reinke; and his beloved pets Zeus and Shmizzle.  He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother Karen (Carlyle "Sonny") Reeck, his brother Chris Van Buren and his dog Ella.

A memorial service for Matt will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday April 22, 2023, at St. Jakobi Lutheran Church in Shawano with Pastor Travis Kleinschmidt officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday the 22 ^nd from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
