Obituary

Matty passed into the Lord's hands the morning of November 13th, 2020. Matty was born with the gift of Downs Syndrome on November 2nd, 1968 in Bonduel, Wisconsin and through that gift shared a genuine love that was cherished by everyone who knew him. Wherever Matt was, he would bring with him a spirit of joy and laughter that captured the hearts of all. The brightest of lights was taken from this world when Matt passed.

Matt spent his final years with his beloved brother Larry "Guy" and sister-in-law Connie who loved him deeply and always counted each day with him in their home as a blessing and a gift, their two sons Jeremy and Joe Leitzke and daughters-in-law Kelly and Danielle cherished their special relationship with him as Matty would always bring joy to all occasions. Many helped in Matt's care over the years, his sister, Angie and her husband Merle Schultz of Shawano, niece Ashley (Aaron) Genke of Shawano, Barb Hoeffs of Bonduel, and many others, please know how grateful we are for your care of him. Special thank you to the Tonn family for your special adoption of him as family, Matt loved you all. Until this past spring, Matt would spend his days, Tuesday through Thursday at the civic center in Shawano, he so loved the time there with his many special friends, special thank you to Wendy Lecker for your love and kindness. Matty was a member at Community Bible Church, Black Creek, we thank you all for your special bond with him. Special thank you to Rev. Levi Rocke and Sarah for your visits with worship and prayer.

Matt is survived by: sister, Dolly (Wayne) Schulz, West Bend; brother, Dan (Debra) Leitzke, Roscoe, IL; brother-in-law, Merle Schultz, Shawano; sister, Sally (David) Richter, Navarino; brother Larry "Guy" (Connie) Leitzke, Bonduel; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Larry F. and Marcie Leitzke of Bonduel and a special sister Angie Schultz of Shawano.

A funeral service for Matthew will be held at the Community Bible Church in Black Creek at 1:00pm on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 with Rev. Levi Rocke officiating. Burial will be in Zion United Methodist Cemetery in the Town of Hartland. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Wendt Funeral Home in Bonduel on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm and again at the church on Wednesday from 11:00am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Matty's memory. The use of masks is suggested throughout the services.
