Mattie Stoehr, age 81, passed away on January 27, 2023, at her home in Shawano. She was born on August 8, 1941, to the late Arthur and Ursula (McNutt) Carroll in Gresham. Mattie graduated from Gresham High School in 1959, going on to graduate from UW Janesville, with a Bachelor of Nursing Degree. She began her nursing career at Milwaukee Public Health. She later moved back to Shawano and worked as Shawano County nurse. Mattie then progressed further and became the Director of Nursing at Hartland in Shawano. After many years at Hartland, she retired. On August 8, 1964, she was united in marriage to Daniel Stoehr at St. Francis Solanus in Gresham. Mattie was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Mattie is survived by her husband, Daniel, of 58 years; her daughter, Carroll (Stan) Truty of Illinois; her siblings, Stella Hayes of Shawano, Jean Carroll of Shawano, and James (Karen) Carroll of Gresham.

Mattie is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Laura, Catherine, Patricia and Arthur.

Memorial mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday February 2, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Scott Valentyn officiating. Spring burial will be at St. Francis Solanus in Gresham.
