Maurissa Lorraine Bigjohn, age 44, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 15, 2023, in Boise, Idaho. She was born to Larry Bigjohn and Linda Peters on June 11, 1978, in Chicago, IL. Maurissa was a strong advocate for education. She received her master's degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She was dedicated to helping other people, especially native communities.  In Nevada, she was employed as the tribal administrator for the Shoshone-Paiute Tribe. Maurissa loved her Brewers and Packers. During other free time, she loved to shoot pool.

She is survived by her parents; siblings: Talenna Peters, Woesha Peters, Karly Slaughter, Gunnar Peters and Barry Bigjohn.; nieces and nephews: McKaylin, Braiden, Aurora, Aquedia, Jordana, Karlene, Rhian, Nicolas, Naehciwat, Scott, Trista, Christian and Gunnar; her stepfather, Kurtis Peters, Sr.; and #DangerousCrew, #RedWing. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Maurissa is preceded by her maternal grandparents, Randall Denning and Neoma Denning; maternal grandfather, Kenneth M. "Paddo" Fish; paternal grandparents, Cody Bigjohn and Lorraine Bigjohn; and nephew, Grant "Bucket" Gomeyosh.

A funeral service for Maurissa will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit on Tuesday, January 24, 2022, with Fr. Timothy Machila officiating. Burial will be at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be held at Talenna Peters' residence: N1540 Mallard Bay Trail in Keshena on Sunday, January 22, 2023 from 1 p.m. until procession leaves for church on Tuesday.
