Mayme “Pat” Melva Davids (Tousey), of the Stockbridge-Munsee Community, Bowler, WI; passed to the spirit world on May 12, 2026, at the age of 95. Born September 12, 1930, in Suring, Wisconsin to the late John Tousey and Blanche (nee: Little) Tousey. Pat married Ira “T-Spoon” Davids on June 2, 1951, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Red Springs, WI. They remained a devoted couple until his passing in 2006. Her hallmark in life was producing a close-knit family.
She was the proud and loving mother to six children: Jacqueline Schellinger (Greg Koch), Lee C. Davids, Sr. (Victoria), Lyle Davids (Catherine), John Davids (Julie), Beth Stawski (Edmund), Susan Davids (Dan Grellinger). She was the adoring grandmother of Monica Colassaco (Justin), Jacob Schellinger (Vivian), Zachary Schellinger (Kara), Kimberly Moede (Dustin), Lee “Boomer” Davids, Jr. (Amy), Justin Davids, Skylar Tilley (Noah), Joshua Davids (Cierra), Jacob Davids, Analicia Webster (Peter), John Stawski (Jamie), Emma Grellinger, Nathan Grellinger and William Grellinger. She was enamored with her great grandchildren: Tori, Ryder, Easton, Eliana, Layne, Thea, Lee III, Noah, Mia, Allison, Cameron, Malik, Chloe, Madison, Abigail, Elliot, Nolan, and Emmy; also survived by her brother-in-law, Elwood Davids (Jermaine) and her caring friend, Betty Besaw.
She is preceded in death by nine siblings, Gordon Tousey, Myrtle Dessart, Velma “Honey” Yakel, Opal Erb, Bernard “Mick” Tousey, Ervin “Smoke” Tousey, Ruby Jashinsky, Bessie Borge, Wallace Tousey; and grandson, Austin Davids.
Pat was a proud member of the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans, where she passed as the second eldest tribal member. She lived on the reservation from 1937 until her passing, with the exception of weekdays spent in Milwaukee during Ira’s working life. She humorously spoke of meeting him at a dance at the “Cupcake” in Gresham when she was 19. She attributed his good looks, in part, to his brand-new Nash.
Pat's legacy lives in raising her six children and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren she loved so deeply. In her early years of retirement, she continued to care for those around her, working part-time at the Ella Besaw Center, the Green Thumb program, and serving on tribal committees.
Pat’s favorite things were visiting with her family and others, as well as sharing stories old and new. She spent her final months at the Ella Besaw Center, cared for by kind, loving caregivers and surrounded by the community.
Pat is remembered as a devoted companion and caregiver to Ira, and as one of the kindest and most loving of any known daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend, and community member.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at The Lutheran Church of the Wilderness with Rev. Paul Johnson officiating.
