IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maynard
Wilber
August 26, 1931 – June 17, 2019
Maynard A. Wilber, age 87 of Keshena, passed away on Monday June 17, 2019 in Shawano. Without a doubt, heaven welcomed God's greatest bullshitter.
He was born on August 26th, 1931 in Keshena, Wisconsin to the late Franklin Sr. and Alta (Sturm) Wilber. Maynard was a US Marine who served in Charleston, South Carolina during the Korean War. He worked for the Menominee County Highway Department, owned Wilber Brother's Construction with his brother Gene, worked as a logger on the Menominee Indian Reservation, and finished his career as a truck driver for Dave Wilber Logging.
Maynard was proud of his Menominee ancestry and enjoyed the Menominee forests, lakes, and streams. He loved nothing more than sitting in his garage watching traffic on Highway 47 and telling stories with Bruce, Edwin, George, Menot, Bing, Snookie, and Verlyn. Occasionally, one of the stories would be true.
Maynard is survived by: his sister, Beverly Wilber of Green Bay; his sisters-in-law, Luretta, Doris, Sylvia, Darlene, and Carla; his brother-in-law Verlyn Spreeman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; two sisters, Barbara (the late Laroy) Miller and Beulah Spreeman; and all of his brothers, George and his wife Marcella, Earl, Gene, Marion, Dave, Roger, and Franklin Jr.
Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2019 at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Deacon Tom Hartman officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Veterans of the Menominee Nation. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
Maynard wanted to thank the Menominee Tribe's Aging Division and Long Term Care Program for their care of him these last several years. He was especially thankful for his care workers Renee, Kay, Amy, Alex, Dawn and Ginger. And his nurses Melissa, Zoe, and the ThedaCare Hospice. He was grateful to the end that he was able to spend his final years at his home on the Menominee Reservation where he was so comfortable.
