Merceline Ruth Warrington, age 84, of Keshena, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016 in Keshena. Merceline was born in Keshena on May 2, 1932, the daughter of the late Freeman and Madeline (Hanks) Neconish. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, shopping, playing Yahtzee and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a member of the Native American Church and frequently attended sweat lodges with her brothers and nephews.
Merceline is survived by her son, Michael Warrington of Keshena; grandchildren, William (Elena) Cox, III, Michelle (Gary) Frechette, James (Carey) Cox, Jeffrey J. (Angela) Cox, and Lindsay (Joshua) Besaw; numerous great-grandchildren; her brothers and sister, LeRoy "John" Neconish of Keshena, Ronald Neconish of Keshena and Virginia "Rose" Neconish-Waupoose of Keshena; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Lorraine "Suzie" Cox and Roberta "Bertie" Cox; three sons in infancy; a granddaughter Katie Sue Cox; a grandson, Awaesesaeh Warrington; and numerous siblings.
Visitation and traditional services will be held at the Father David Barrett Hall in Keshena beginning Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 4:00 pm until 10:00 am on Thursday, November 3, 2016. Inurnment will be in the Neconish Settlement.
