Michael John "Cletus" Smith, age 40, of Clintonville, passed away in his sleep Wednesday, February 29, 2012 in Somerset, PA. Born on April 8, 1971 in Minneapolis, MN, he was the son of Rev. John E. and Sandra J. (Erickson) Smith. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. While growing up, Mike and his family lived in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin where he attended the Divine Savior Lutheran School. After graduating from Shawano High School in 1990, Mike was employed by several Shawano businesses. He was currently employed by Badger Transport, Inc. of Clintonville. Mike is survived by: his parents, Rev. John and Sandra Smith of Shawano; a sister, Sara Montes; 3 nieces, Mackenzie, Jada, Alexis; nephew, Payton; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and friend, Lori Johnson of Clintonville. Mike was preceded in death by: his grandparents, William and Esther Smith, Robert and Helen Erickson; and his aunt, Dorothy Lehman. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Kurt Kluge officiating. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery in the Town of Belle Plaine.
