Michael James Waukau, age 49, of Keshena, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 in Keshena. Michael was born on August 12, 1970 in Chicago, IL to the late Michael Van Ness and LaVonne Burnell Waukau. He enjoyed landscaping and construction work and he worked for a short time at the Menominee Casino. Michael spent his life helping people in the community. He loved the outdoors especially riding ATV's and motorcycles. He enjoyed building muscle cars and working at the shop with his family. Michael loved his family and friends dearly, as well as the Legend Lake community.

Michael is survived by: his children, Brad Zeeman of Oregon, Austin Peters-Waukau of Keshena, Melissa Schmidt of Shawano, and August Peters-Waukau of Keshena; three grandchildren; siblings, James Waukau, Leo Long, Willard Waupoose, Jr., and Nicole Waupoose all of Keshena; he is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael VanNess and LaVonne Waukau.

Funeral services for Michael will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Keshena with Fr. Joel Jores officiating. Visitation will be held at the Waukau family residence, N1493 Spring Glen Road, Keshena, beginning on Thursday, September 05, 2019 at 5:00 pm until the time the processional leaves for church on Saturday.
