Mitchell Glen "Big Mitch" Meyer, Sr., age 59 of Shawano, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 25, 1953 in Hawaii, he was the son of Donald and Hayano (Hoshino) Meyer. After graduating from high school, Mitch enlisted with the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. In June of 1985 he was united in marriage to Antoinette Thyrion in Oshkosh. Mitch worked at the Shawano Leader. He was a jack of all trades and was an expert with duct tape. Mitch loved spending time and being silly with his family. He also enjoyed fishing, watching his Green Bay Packers and enjoying an occasional can of beer. Mitch is survived by: wife, Antoinette; 3 children, Stacie Thyrion of VA, Krista (Jeffrey) Marks of NC, Mitchell (significant other, Harley Messner) Meyer, Jr. of Wausau; 7 grandchildren, Ashlee, Isaiah, Alex, Devin, Benjamin, Sophia, Ava Mae; his parents, Donald and Hayano; 2 brothers, Michael (Anita) Meyer of IN, Marshall (JoAnna) Meyer of TX; a brother-in-law, Dan (Michelle) Thyrion of Shawano; and numerous nieces and nephews including Beth (Richard) Buffum, Zach Thyrion and Kimberly Thyrion all of Shawano. Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the Wisconsin Veteran Memorial Cemetery in King. Visitation will be held at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Monday from 4:00-7:00p.m. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. www.swedbergfuneralhome.com
