MJ McBride died February 13, 2016 in Shawano, after a brief battle with cancer. MJ began life November 25, 1947. He was the son of the late Charles and Ramona (Krueger) McBride. He was a brother to Gwen (Charlie) Koeller, Lon (Julie) McBride, Kelly (Mike) Meidam, Charla (Tim) Martin, and Terre (Ron) Retzlaff. M J attended Shawano schools, and graduated in 1966. He married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Zeman, on April 2, 1965, and so began their 51 year journey. From their loving union, their son Dean was born. MJ had a long and successful racing career, spanning over 40 years that took he and Marilyn to many tracks throughout the country. Along the way, their racing family grew to include many great friends. He owned and operated Brickform Concrete in Shawano retiring in 2010. After retiring, MJ and Marilyn wintered in Florida. Together, they enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, and golfing. MJ also enjoyed hunting, and after retirement, took up archery.
MJ is survived by his wife, Marilyn; their son Dean, and his family, Jolie and Madison; his sisters-in law and brothers-in-law, Betty and Jim Rouse, and Vicky and Jeff Jones. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Gwen; one brother, Lon; one niece, Timijane; as well as his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernie and Millie Zeman.
MJ's celebration of life will take place on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. at Hope Community Church in Shawano with Rev. Kevin Bradford officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Swedberg Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. www.swedbergfuneralhome.com
