"Myke" Christensen
May 21, 1931 – December 11, 2021
Myron E. "Myke" Christensen, age 90 of Leopolis, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on May 21, 1931, to the late Gilbert Oscar and Gertrude Bell (Wilson) Christensen in Cary Bluff, Wisconsin. At age 9.5 his family moved to Beloit. He graduated from Beloit High School in 1949. Myke enlisted in the United States Navy in August of 1949. He was a Navel electronics technician and served during the Korean War. Myke was united in marriage to Ruthann Kelley on May 31, 1953, in Edgerton, Wisconsin. He graduated from Milton College in May of 1957 with a Bachelor of Science, Cum Laude. He continued his education at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Il., and graduated in 1963 with a Master of Divinity degree. He was a Reverend for over 65 years and ministered to several United Methodist Churches throughout Wisconsin. Myke was a Mason and a Chaplin for 11 years at Beja Shrine in Green Bay. He was also involved in the Rotary club in Marshfield and Marion, former member of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Wisconsin and Advisory Board of the Children's Service Society of Clergy Association.
Myke is survived by: his beloved wife, Ruthann; four children, Douglas Christensen, Judy (Peter) Kucksdorf, Allen (Cathy) Christensen and Jerry (Fiancé, Cheryl Kolman) Christensen; seven grandchildren, Kate (Stanley) Mathuram, David (Erica) Christensen, Stephen (Julie) Emmsdorf, Ryan (Alyssa) Kucksdorf, Lief (Erica) Christensen, Patrick (Megan) Christensen, and Austin White; thirteen great grandchildren, Shylah, Xenyah, Talara, Arayla, Leela, Alaina, Aiden, Oliver, Isabell, Asa, Aksel, Noah and Lilly; one sister-in-law, Beverly Christensen; four step grandchildren, Melissa Matson, Jenny (Edwin) Aparico, Crystal (Even) Little and Jack Matson; and four step great grandchildren, Elijah, Jessie, Audrina and Lucas;.
He was preceded in death by: one grandson, Hans Peter Christensen; one daughter-in-law Linda Christensen; one sister, Yvonne Garrett; one brother, Howard Christensen; one brother-in-law, Fred Garrett; and one step great grandson, Nolan.
A celebration of life for Myke will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano. Military rites will be conducted by the Shawano VFW Post #2723. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery in Leopolis and will be at a later date. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Masks are requested for visitation and service. Memorials for Myke may be directed to Shriners Hospital for Children.
