Obituary

Nancy Laura Goode, age 77, of Shawano, passed away Sunday May 3, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family after a tough battle with cancer. Nancy was born on September 7, 1948, and raised in Milwaukee by the late Gordon Frank and Florence Helen (Utke) Trautmann. In October of 1977, Nancy was united in marriage to Benjamin Goode in Milwaukee. The couple spent a short but wonderful 6 years together before the passing of Benjamin in 1984. She earned an associate’s degree from Waukesha County Technical College (WCTC). She worked as a school bus driver, driving instructor, caregiver, medical assistant, and medical transport driver. Being a caregiver was her greatest passion, from caring for her family, people in need, 15 exchange students, and multiple children and grandchildren whether they were related or not. In her free time, she enjoyed baking, playing bingo, spending time with family, and travelling. After housing the numerous foreign exchange students, she was motivated to visit them in their home country. Nancy was a proud member of Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano, being involved with Kids of Zion (KOZ), Mom CO., and other committees.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Vicki (Matt) Heling of Shawano; three stepdaughters, Judy (Bill) Jensen of Shawano, Linda Wagar of Random Lake, and Nancy (Neil) Gross of Arizona; bonus daughter, Kathy (Mike) Mager; grandchildren, Emily Heling, Maddy Heling, Nathan Bitner, Brian Bitner, Laura (Mike) Derrick and Elisa (Walter) Adams. She is further survived by many great-grandchildren, bonus grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin; brother, Charles “Chuck” Trautmann; parents, Gordon and Florence Trautmann; and in-laws Laura Goode and Benjamin Sr.

A funeral service for Nancy will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday, May 9, at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano, with Pastor Scott Ludford officiating.
