Nancy Kathleen “Kathy” Lindner, of Cecil, age 84, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026, at ThedaCare Medical Center in Shawano, Wisconsin. Kathy was born on March 24, 1942, in Kankakee, Illinois, to Ross and Rosemary (Vancil) Butler. She was a 43-year cancer survivor. When she was seven, Kathy moved to Bondurant, Wyoming with her mother and stepfather, Robert Wells. The Triangle F Ranch became her new home and where she fell in love with the mountains. She lived by John Muir’s statement, “The mountains are calling and I must go”. Kathy loved her early years at the Triangle F, Jackson Hole, the Tetons, and Yellowstone. She never tired of visiting these special places for the rest of her life.
Kathy graduated from University Prep High School in Laramie, Wyoming in 1960. Then began her career in banking. In 1968, she traveled to Wisconsin to visit a friend, Dinah. That is where she met the love of her life Robert “Bob” Lindner. Bob and Kathy were married June 6, 1970, in Neenah, Wisconsin. They enjoyed nearly 56 wonderful years together. Their marriage was blessed with a son, Royce, on May 15, 1975.
Kathy was an avid bowler and participated in scratch and couple leagues. She enjoyed traveling. After retiring, she split her time between their condo in St. Pete Beach, Florida and their Shawano Lake home. Kathy loved her grandchildren, Aidan and Ava, and enjoyed their visits to the beach and lake. Watching them grow into the wonderful, loving adults they are today was very special to “Gammy”.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Bob; son, Royce; grandson, Aidan; granddaughter, Ava; sisters, Julie Cappazoli and Janet Hellman-Hofmeier; and longtime special friends, Elizabeth Krieger and Bonnie Schoenick.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Rosemary Wells; and sister, Jeanne Martinez.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Sam and the staff at ThedaCare Medical Center in Shawano and ThedaCare Hospice for the loving, compassionate care they provided for Kathy.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Richard Menning officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of service.
