August 16, 1944 – April 3, 2019
Neil L. Jacobs, age 74, of Shawano, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 3, 2019. Born in Sturgeon Bay on August 16, 1944 Neil was a son of the late Howard and Gretta (Tousey) Jacobs. Neil is a graduate of Bowler High School and continued his education to work as an industrial electrician. Neil enlisted in the United States Army in 1965 and served his country honorably in Vietnam. He was a proud veteran of the 25 th infantry division. Neil was united in marriage to Claudia Arvey. He loved sports and enjoyed coaching little league baseball for many years. He was very artistic and had an eye for detail, putting the level to just about everything. Muncie could fix or build just about anything and would often say, "The only thing I can't do is put toothpaste back in the tube." He retired from Faith Technology in Appleton in 2009 and battled cancer courageously for over 10 years. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who never missed an opportunity to teach valuable life lessons. His great sense of humor and quick wit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Neil is survived by: his wife, Claudia; children, Heidi Arvey of Green Bay and Collin (Kelly) Arvey of Shawano; grandchildren, Elliott, Marshall, Brendan, and Rhiannon; his sister Euretta "Buzzi" Rollins; and his brother, Gearold "Bear" (Vickie) Jacobs. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, many friends, and his faithful companion, Hunter.
He is preceded in death by a son, Brian Jacobs, his parents, and siblings, Clyde Jacobs, Sr., Rosella Schaaf, Sugar Zimmerman, and his twin sister, Nelda Jacobs.
A memorial service will be held at Noon on Monday, April 8, 2019 at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Rev. Matthew Weber officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Mohican Veterans outside the funeral home following the service. Inurnment will be in Red Springs Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Sunday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and again on Monday from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
