Obituary

Neil Evan Kleemann, age 78, of Shawano, Wisconsin, passed into the arms of his loving Lord on May 4, 2025, after an extended struggle with dementia.

Born on August 14, 1946, in Shawano to Clara and Albert Kleemann, Neil grew up along the Wolf River, where his love for the outdoors took root. His childhood adventures there left an imprint, fueling his lifelong passion for fishing and hunting.

A 1965 graduate of Shawano High School, he pursued higher education at Carroll College and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where he earned degrees in social work.

Neil began his professional career as a dedicated social worker with Langlade County and later Menominee County where he was a Social Worker IV and then Income Maintenance Supervisor, helping others with compassion and integrity. Later, he channeled his vision for growth of his hometown into the development Park Knoll Estates and Alpine Shores Waterfront Subdivision in Shawano, leaving a lasting impact on the community.

Neil enjoyed his friends and was involved in his community, performing with the Shawano Community Band and was a proud member of the Shawano Optimist Club. In his free time, he found great joy in hunting and fishing, hobbies that connected him to the Northwoods of Wisconsin that he loved so much.

In 1968, Neil married the love of his life, Martha (Wolfgram). They built a life of love, family, perseverance and success over 57 years together. Neil is survived by Martha; his children, Doug (Tam), Jeff (Beth) and Mindy; and his grandchildren, who were a constant source of pride and happiness. He is also survived by his sister, Alyce Koenig (Jerry) and a niece and nephew.

Neil will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and commitment to his family and community. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the place he called home. He will be missed.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Special thanks goes out to the doctors, nurses and staff at ThedaCare in Shawano and Hospice for their kind and gentle care.
