IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Norma Ann
Baars
June 14, 1946 – January 9, 2020
Norma Ann Baars, age 73, of Wausau, peacefully passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2020. She was born to the late Peter and Grace Profit on June 14, 1946, in Edinburgh, Scotland. At the age of 11, Norma and her parents immigrated to Canada to begin a new life. At 18 she married Richard Weldon Baars, a traveling jazz musician.
Norma was a loving stay-at-home mother who readily volunteered at her daughters' schools. She was loved by many, due to her bubbly personality and quick wit. When her children were grown, she decided to get a job in sales. Her friendly personality allowed her to be the number one sales associate each month. Norma positively impacted everyone she met, and will be greatly missed by all.
Unfortunately, at the age of 55, Norma was diagnosed with macular degeneration, which caused her to lose her eyesight. This did not stop her from enjoying life. For fun, Norma liked to watch T.V. shows such as Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. She never missed a jeopardy question, much to her grandchildren's amazement. She also loved to listen to audiobooks about mystery, where she always solved the crime before the end. Norma was also a music lover and could be found listening to artists like Josh Groban, The Beatles, Rod Stewart, The Bee Gees, and many more.
Norma is survived by her four daughters, Tawnia (Al) Amleh, Michaela (Keith) Koenig, Michelle (Ken) Bullock, and Amanda (Gregg) Gravois. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard Baars, and her sister Irene McKnight.
Norma was a warm and caring individual, and a loving mother. She will be deeply missed by everyone who she has impacted. Norma has always requested to be cremated and scattered over Scotland, so that she can be reunited with her birthplace.
Private family services will be held.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last few days on Earth .
