Norman H.P. Beyer, age 85 of Cecil, passed away Monday, October 10, 2011 at a local nursing home. Born on April 25, 1926 in Shiocton, he was the son of the late Albert J. and Rose (Boelter) Beyer. On July 12, 1947 he was united in marriage to Darlene Olson at the Navarino Lutheran Church. After marriage the couple lived in the Appleton area where Norman worked for Xavier High School. After retiring, the couple moved to the Cecil area. Norman was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, bowling and woodworking. Norman is survived by: his wife of 64 years, Darlene; a son, Gary (special friend, Debbie) Beyer of Kimberly; and 2 grandchildren, Traci and Gary. Norman is further survived by: a brother, Arnold (Gladys) Beyer of Shawano; 3 sisters, Bernice Ziegler of Appleton, Rose Ann Hayman of Appleton, Carolyn (Bob) Janssen of Alpharetta, GA; 2 brothers-in-law, Don Ziegler of Appleton, Frank Figlinski of Shawano; and 3 sisters-in-law, Micky Beyer of Manawa, Phyllis Beyer of Appleton and Marlene Beyer of Brillion. Also surviving are Darlene's brothers and sisters; Duane (Morva) Olson of Shawano, Norma Grosskreutz of Shawano, Sharon (Don) Ross of Tucson, AZ, DeLyle Olson of Appleton, Jerome Olson of Bonduel and Charmaine Olson of Lunds. Norman was preceded in death by: his parents; 3 brothers, George Beyer, Albert Beyer, Ronald Beyer; 4 sisters, Gertrude Steenbock, Hazel Ziegler, Marilyn Zemlock, Joan Figlinski; 4 brothers-in-law, Ray Steenbock, Vernon Stoehr, Charles Hayman, Francis Zemlock; Darlene's 2 brothers, Verlyn Olson, Alfred D. Olson; Darlene's 2 sisters, Donna (Clifford) Krause, May Olson; and Darlene's brother-in-law, Clifton Grosskreutz. A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with the Rev. Peter L. Sherven officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday after 1:30pm until the time of the service. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at ManorCare Health Care Center for the special care given to Norman over the past 7 years.
