IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Okēmāw John
L. O'Kimosh
May 12, 1947 – August 25, 2021
Okēmāw John L. O'Kimosh, age 74, of Menominee, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. John was born in Keshena on May 12, 1947, son of the late Peter and Delvinia (Waters) O'Kimosh. John graduated with the class of 1965 from Shawano High School. On March 31, 1966, John was united in marriage to Mary Kressin in Milwaukee. He worked in underground construction his entire life. Starting as a laborer, John worked his way up to foreman. He was proud of his accomplishments.
John sacrificed much to provide for his family. As a dedicated family man, his devotion was felt by all. John always supported his family by attending every special event. He had a tremendous love for the outdoors. Deer hunting was a particularly special time for John. He bonded with his brothers, children, nieces and nephews during the hunt. At every bend in the road, there would be another story. John always gave people the room they needed and never judged. Family being most important in his life, he would travel great distances to show his respect and love. In his day, John was a Golden Gloves State Champion. As well as boxing, John played baseball with the Menominee B.A.B.A. team. John loved to golf with his brothers, sons and nephews. Exactly how much golfing was done is unknown. John's own words were, "I'm not BS-ing, I'm just stretching the truth!". Nevertheless, John was a true sportsman.
He is survived by his wife, Mary O'Kimosh; his three children, Julie (Ben Warrington) O'Kimosh, Forrest (Tracy Waukau) O'Kimosh, Todd (Susie) O'Kimosh; his grandchildren, Leland (Erika), Michael (Stephanie), Rebecca (Joseph), Monea (Tre), Mitchell (Chyenne), and Keane (Cassidy).
