Orlin F. Felts, of Shawano, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, October 12, 2013 on his 93rd birthday. Orlin was born in Shawano, the son of Clarence C. and Ida Felts. He attended St. James Lutheran School, Shawano High School and the University of WI. On October 11, 1940 he married Clara Mae Koonz. Orlin worked with his father in the construction business. At the time of his father's death, he became the President of Felts Construction Company, Inc. They built many churches, commercial buildings and homes in Shawano and the surrounding areas. He was a life-time member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. He was also a charter member of the Shawano Lions Club and a member of the Civil Air Patrol. Orlin loved to spend time with his wife, family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed reading the Wall Street Journal, fishing, winter picnics, riding his 10 horse Skidoo, camping, spending time at Boulder Lake and playing the hum strummer. He was an avid deer hunter and got a buck last year at the age of 92. Orlin spent many winters in Florida enjoying fishing at the Port of the Islands and the Gulf. He liked attending and watching the Packer games. He had beautiful raspberry patches and enjoyed making jam and pies. Orlin is survived by: his 2 sons, Thomas (Mary-Ellen) and Richard (Judith) all of Shawano; 5 grandchildren, Chuck (Kay) Felts of Shawano, Elizabeth (Kevin) Brown of Atlanta, GA, Tamara (Simon) Felts-Tady of Switzerland, Tiffany (special friend, John Kurtz) Felts of Woodbury, MN, Tialynn (fiancé, Kevin Zuehlke) Felts of Green Bay; 3 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Katie and William Brown all of Atlanta, GA; and a sister-in-law, Edith Vandree. Orlin was preceded in death by: his wife, Clara on July 10, 2009; his parents; 3 brothers; and a sister. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. Ted Andrada officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be held at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Friday from 4:00-7:00pm and at the church on Saturday from 9:00am until the time of the service.
