Patrick Riley Martin, age 72 of Shawano, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family and friends. Born on April 11, 1939 in Shawano, he was the son of the late Kenneth "Buck" Martin and Genevieve (Bocher) Martin Edinger. On August 5, 1961 he was united in marriage to Arlene Buth in Shawano. Together the couple owned and operated Martin's One Hour Cleaning Service and Martins Decorating in Shawano since 1961. Pat was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Shawano as well as a member of the Shawano Ducks Unlimited and the Shawano Rotary Club. He collected money for the Shawano area fireworks for many years. Pat enjoyed hunting and fishing in several parts of the world with many of his dear friends. In more recent years, Pat and Arlene enjoyed wintering in the Florida Keys where Pat was an avid sports fisherman. Pat loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his beloved grandchildren. Pat is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Arlene; daughter, Molly Martin-Johnson of Shawano; son, Michael (Tanya) Martin of Shawano; foster daughters, Lea (Mark) Warrington, Carolyn Campbell; 8 grandchildren, Brittney and Jennifer Melbauer, Kylie and Patrick Johnson, Joe and Lilyann Warrington, Leah and Tanya Hribal; a sister-in-law, Nancy Martin of Albert Lea, MN; and several nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by: a granddaughter, Elizabeth Johnson; his parents; and a brother, James Martin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church in Shawano with the Rev. Susan Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will be held at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday after 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Heartland Hospice and to Patrick's caregivers.
