Obituary

Patricia Bowditch Arvold, age 94, of Shawano passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at her home. Patricia was born on April 8, 1922 in Rogers Park, IL, the daughter of the late Harvey and Mae (Gordon) Bowditch. Pat earned her Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin. On August 12, 1944, she was united in marriage to David Schewe Arvold in Madison. Pat and Dave moved to Shawano in 1947. Pat enjoyed reading a good book, playing bridge, golfing, and spending time at the family cottage in Hazelhurst, Wisconsin. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family.

Patricia is survived by: her husband, David; their children, David (Judith) Arvold, Jr. M.D. of Duluth, Minnesota, Katherine (Tom) Lonsdale of San Antonio, Texas, Mary Ellen (David Haas) Arvold of Juneau, Alaska, and Patricia (John) Nyman of Shoreview, Minnesota; nine grandchildren, Virginia (John Dick) Arvold, Nils (Lisa) Arvold, Thomas (Heather) Lonsdale, Jeffrey (Ellen) Lonsdale, Patrick (Leslie) Lonsdale, Jacob Haas, Emily Nyman, Tanning Nyman, and Louisa Nyman and 13 great-grandchildren.

Patricia was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Elizabeth Arvold Haas, her parents, and one brother, Robert Bowditch.

A memorial service for Pat will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 3, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church in Shawano with Rev. Susan Phillips officiating. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm and again at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
