IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patrick
Tribbey
August 2, 1970 – August 15, 2023
On August 15, 2023, the universe finally won the battle to kill Patrick Tribbey. For the majority of his life, he joked that the universe was trying to kill him; from getting married three times to actual physical harm. From birth on August 2, 1970, the attempts that the devious and relentless universe put forth started slowly and sneakily with bullying and an outcast status in high school. In the next few decades, the universe's attempts dealt with motor vehicles; one car and two motorcycle accidents. He persevered through these trials and became a bionic man with rods and screws holding him together. Science for the win!
The universe finally found the ultimate nemesis for Patrick's final and most difficult battle; a foe whose evil reputation strikes fear into the hearts of many, cancer. He faced his nemesis, colon cancer, and fought valiantly with tremendous heart and determination for three years. Ultimately the universe's evil champion was able to overcome science and Patrick's poor battered body could do no more.
The things that brought Patrick delight in waxing and waning times throughout his life included homebrewing, cigars, ABATE, space, time, theoretical physics, EAA, the MCU (especially Spiderman), comic books, skateboarding, NASA, classic cars, The Peanuts' Woodstock, tattoos, Neil deGrasse Tyson, computers and tech, LEGO, Alton Brown, Star Wars, hockey, playing the drums, world religions, history, the Packers, live music, the band Nobody, Michio Kaku, sharing his knowledge in long conversations and teaching. His wide-ranging taste in music from Barry Manilow to Slayer and his deep love for the color purple will never be forgotten. He was the founder of Cheese City Brew Club in Monroe, WI.
Patrick's largest regret in his life was missing out on being the father he knew he could be to his cherished firstborn children, Shantyll, Jordyn, and Dyllan. He felt that distance and other impediments were too large to overcome in his youth, but happily bridges were built over those troubles and he was able to connect with all three of them to tell them how much he loved them and how immensely proud of them he was. His fourth child came later in life, and he absolutely flourished into the best father Tate could have ever had.
The universe may have won and his ultimate nemesis, evil colon cancer, stole him away from us; but his memories and stories will continue with his loved ones and there is nothing the universe can do to stop it. Patrick will live on through his wife, Catherine "Catie" Haase, his children; Shantyll Carlson (Roger Palmer), Jordyn Tribbey (Marcus Bruce), Dyllan Tribbey (Lexi Fortin), Tate Haase-Tribbey, and bonus son Dylan Willis. His grandchildren; Keegyn Tribbey, Carter Carlson, and Elliott Tribbey. His mother, Marcia Hoff (Jim Van Overmeirer), his father Herbert "Wally" Tribbey, his brother Paul Tribbey (Angela), his sister Beth Paquette (Jason), as well as nieces, nephews and their families. The cats he said that he didn't like (lies) as he cuddled them and his dogs Goblin, Benji, and Ellie will all miss him, too.
Patrick was extremely privileged throughout his life to have had absolutely phenomenal friends that his family would like to especially thank for all of their love and support through this extremely difficult final battle and remembrance. A celebration of his life will be held in the Shawano, WI area where he resided and his wishes for a death party (as Patrick called it) will be honored in the Superior, WI area where he grew up. Details for these events will be forthcoming.
