Pedro Santiago Montez, age 89, of Milwaukee, passed away on Saturday May 17, 2025. He was born on July 25, 1935, in Brownsville, TX, to the late Pedro and Elvira (Chapan) Montez. Once he graduated high school he entered into the United States Navy. He was proud to have worked on the U.S.S. Lexington during his service. After exiting the Navy, he moved to Milwaukee, WI to follow his brothers. Here he met the love of his life Genevieve "Jenny" Whitney. He was united in marriage to Jenny on August 11, 1960. Pedro first worked at American Motors but then transitioned into upholstery work. He worked at the Boston Store for over 30 years until his retirement. During that time the two raised their daughter Melissa and their son Pete. Pedro sacrificed a great deal for the long-term care of Melissa through her life. He was a proud father who loved to coach his son in baseball and continued coaching him into his senior league. He was a private man who was always there for his family. In his free time, he loved to relax while walking along the lakefront. He will be dearly missed.
Pedro is survived by: his son, Peter (Linda) Montez; his three grandchildren, Brandon, Nicholas, and Isabella. He is further survived by numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by: his wife, Jenny; his parents Pedro and Elvira; his daughter Melissa; his 5 siblings.
A memorial service for Pedro will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at the Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Deacon Mark Fuller officiating. Visitation will begin at the funeral home on Saturday at 10:00 am until the time of service. Military honors will be conducted at the funeral home following services. Burial will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Keshena.
