Phil Zuhse, age 84, of Shawano, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2019. Phil was born on November 23, 1934, in Clintonville, to the late Henry and Lillian (Trieglaff) Zuhse. Phil proudly served in the United States Army. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater.

Phil worked at Green Bay Paper Converting, State Farm Insurance, and National Gypsum Company. While in Ashwaubenon he worked as a village trustee and after moving to the Shawano Lake area he became a Town of Wescott Supervisor, was on the County Planning Commission and enjoyed local politics.

After retiring, Phil was instrumental in building the new Shawano County Humane Society building on Jaycee Court. He served as treasurer for the Shawano County Humane Society and the Shawano Area Lake Association. Phil was also a member of the Green Bay West Side Lions Club for many years.

Phil is survived by: his wife, Carolyn (Kessler) Zuhse; his children, Carla (James) Osborne, Kevin (Kelly) Zuhse, and Colette (Scott) Hodkiewicz; his grandchildren, Matthew, Thomas, and Jennifer Osborne, and Daniele and Amber Hodkiewicz. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; his sisters, Verdell Stoop and Rose Sim; and his brother, Melvin Zuhse.

A memorial service for Phil will be held at 4:00 pm, on Saturday, October 26, 2019, at The Gathering, with Rev. Travis Kleinschmidt officiating. Following services, a celebration of life will be held from 4:30 until 7:00 pm. Burial will be in Lake Drive Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jakobi Lutheran Church or the Shawano Humane Society.
