Phyllis R. Jahnke passed away peacefully on April 21, 2020 at the age of 84. Phyllis was born on December 19, 1935 in Shawano. She was the daughter of the late Fred "Fritz" and Ruby (Seehafer) Laehn. On October 22, 1955 she was united in marriage to Junior L. Jahnke of Shawano.
Phyllis was a lifelong resident of Shawano graduating from Shawano High School in 1954 and worked at several places including Montgomery Ward, Midwest Breeders, and the Shawano Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of Peace United Church of Christ of Shawano.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, serving as Shawano auxiliary president for 5 years in the early 90's. She also served on the City of Shawano Election Board and worked at the elections in various capacities for 20 years.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Junior, and her children, Kevin (Nancy), Jeff (Lori Hans), Laurie Van Asten (Joseph Dwyer), and Tim (Kris). She is also survived by her grandchildren Abby Rogers (Josh), Arik Van Asten, Benjamin Jahnke, Shelby Hans, and Casey Hans, her brother Dick Laehn (Sandy), and sister-in-law Diana (Dixie) Laehn.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Jon Laehn.
The family thanks the staff at The Cottages Memory Care and Heartland Hospice Care for their loving care and support these final days.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, a memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Peace Church in Shawano at a later date.
In lieu of sympathy cards, flowers, and gifts, the family would appreciate it if condolences could please be addressed to the online guestbook.
