Phyllis Ione Knowles, age 76 of Tilleda, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014 in Weston, WI. She was born on July 23, 1938 in Milwaukee, the daughter of the late Harold and Jeanette (Lory) Appleby and has lived in this area for the past 14 years. On February 19, 1955 she was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Knowles in Oceanside, CA. Phyllis owned and operated a catering service, The Elegant Farmer and also worked for Northwest and United Airlines. Phyllis was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marion and was currently a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Gresham. Phyllis was also a former Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader, an avid reader and enjoyed watching cooking shows, fishing and spending time with her family and especially grandchildren. Phyllis is survived by her husband, Bob, 4 children, Vicky (David) Haas of Bowler, Patricia (Leslie) Turner of Antigo, Roberta (Curtis) Baldwin of Gillett and James (Catherine) Knowles of Marion. She is further survived by 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Jan Manule. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the St Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Gresham with Rev. David McElroy O.Praem officiating with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
