Nahwahquaw

Phyllis Nahwahquaw, age 79, passed away on September 24, 2024, in Appleton. Born on February 26, 1945, in Keshena, to the late Joseph and Anna (Frechette) Boivin. She was a member of the Shawano High School graduating class of 1963. She went on to work as a cook at the Menominee Indian Casino for many years. She was united in marriage to John B. "Sugabo" Nahwahquaw on August 13, 1966, in Neopit. They were together for a wonderful 52 years before his passing on September 13, 2018. Phyllis always enjoyed being able to gamble at the casino, and especially loved playing Bingo. Phyllis never missed an opportunity to get out and travel. She was a kind and endearing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She will be dearly missed.
Phyllis is survived by: her daughters, Dora (Sterling) Bailey, Dena (Kenneth) Perez, Deanna (Robert) James and Doreen Nahwahquaw; her daughter-in-law Michelle Nahwahquaw; her siblings, Edith, Rosie, Chantel and William "Billie". She is further survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by: her husband John; her son Donald; her daughter Christine; her great-grandson Francis Wahsquonaikezhik; her siblings Phillip "Wally", Donald, Jackie(Joseph "Sonny"), Robert, Evelyn, Margaret and Edna.
Services for Phyllis will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday September 28, 2024, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Neopit. Visitation will be held at the Dena Perez residence, N655 Chief Little Crowe Rd. in Keshena, starting on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 2:00pm until the time of procession to the church at 10:30am. Burial will be held at the church cemetery following services.
