Obituary

Priscilla Humphrey Mitton, age 97 died peacefully at her Clearwater, Florida home on April 21, 2017 with her family by her side. Priscilla was born on November 26, 1919 in Shawano, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Inez Williams Humphrey Breeze and Arthur Spies Humphrey.  She graduated from Shawano High School in 1937.  After attending Lawrence College in Appleton, Wisconsin for one year she transferred to Northwestern University's School of Business in Evanston, Illinois where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Degree in 1941, majoring in Marketing and Retailing.  She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. After graduation, Priscilla worked at Donaldson's Department Store in Minneapolis for two years before returning to Shawano to marry Dr. William Wallace Mitton (a Shawano dentist) on September 4, 1943.  Priscilla was a member of the Shawano Community Hospital Board of Directors for 30 years and served as the Board's Secretary for many of those years.  She was also a member of the Shawano Women's Club, Order of the Eastern Star (Masonic Lodge), the Shawano Legion Auxiliary, and the First Presbyterian Church in Shawano. After moving to Florida, Priscilla was an active member of the Leading Ladies of Ruth Eckerd Performing Arts Center and the Abilities Guild benefiting handicapped individuals.  She was a member of the Donald Roebling Society of Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation and also a member of Peace Memorial Presbyterian Church. Priscilla was an avid golfer and bridge player and a member of the Belleair Country Club and the Carlouel Yacht Club.
Priscilla is survived by daughter Suzanne Mitton (W James) Petru of Clearwater, Florida, son William Humphrey (Rosemary) Mitton of Delafield, Wisconsin, and grandchildren Sean (Donna Trippner) Mitton of Stone Bank, Wisconsin, and Ashley (Buck Bielik) of Okauchee Lake, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wally, her aunt Pearl Humphrey, and her long time dear friend Edward Gunn of Toronto, Canada. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Gloria Beyer of Shawano, Wisconsin, Kathy Moericke of Bonduel, Wisconsin, Cecilia Williams of Holiday, Florida, Zenaida Manning of Largo, Florida and Amore Laid of Clearwater, Florida for their long time dedicated service to Priscilla.
A private service will be held.
