Randy L. Thomas, age 64, of Crandon, passed away on Sunday June 11, 2023, in Madison. Randy was born in Cook County, Illinois on February 24, 1959, son of the late Frank E. and Joan (Neconish) Thomas, Sr. Randy grew up in Chicago where he enjoyed learning and practicing martial arts in his youth.  Following school, he worked as a police officer for several years before moving on to a career working in the woods, which he loved. He earned a degree in carpentry and a master's degree in culinary arts and was an amazing cook. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed playing cards and gambling with friends and sitting around with his brothers at the "round table". Randy was an amazing man, he was very caring, was very intelligent, and had a great sense of humor. He loved to make people laugh and smile and he always had a joke ready to tell.  He was well known in many spiritual circles, and he enjoyed learning about and teaching the traditional ways.  He was a beautiful storyteller and often shared stories with his family and friends.

Randy is survived by: his significant other, Michelle Daniels; and siblings, Patricia Neconish, Walter Cordts, Frank Thomas, Jr., Allie Thomas, Sr., Michael Thomas, Sr., James Thomas, Catherine Margaret (Tom) Thomas and Carrie Neconish. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews in many tribes as well as other relatives and friends.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Joan, siblings, Harley Thomas, George Walter, and Georgianna Martin, foster brothers, Jerry Warrington, John Tabershack, and Donnie Warrington, and a son.

A funeral service for Randy will be held at 11:00 am on Friday June 16, 2023, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Neopit, with Fr. Hanz Christian officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Neopit Community Hall beginning on Wednesday June 14, 2023, at 1:00 pm and continuing until the time of the service on Friday.
