Obituary

Raymond J. Kaquatosh passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016. Raymond Joseph Kaquatosh Sr. was born on the Menominee Reservation and lived there for many years. Raymond served his country in the Korean War and returned from overseas to marry the love of his life Evelyn Teller Crowe and immediately began his life as her husband and father to Evelyn's five children. Ray and Evelyn had four more children. Ray loved all of them including grandchildren and great grandchildren. In 1974, Ray moved to Milwaukee where he began his 25 year career as a steam fitter for Wisconsin Electric and retired to go to Bingo with his lovely wife. He continued to pursue his love of auto tinkering and leather making. He loved to hunt and fish with his boys. He also was an artist at fly fishing, often found with a stogie in his mouth, waders, basket hanging at his side and his hat with flies he made himself while his children and wife played on the side of the river. He enjoyed fixing cars and started a full service gas station with his son Steve, as head mechanics. All the other children were assisting with the business as well. He ventured into the pallet mill business where he and his sons worked daily. He built a laundromat business as well with his family. In addition, they loved to travel. Ray will be missed by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, siblings and friends. As a testament to his character he was present at the births of all 19 grandchildren!
Raymond is survived by: his children, LaFern Awonohopay, LaVonne Crowe, Stephen L. Crowe, Sr., Bonnie R. Kaquatosh, Raymond Kaquatosh, Jr., Dick Kaquatosh, Richanda E. Kaquatosh; 19 grandchildren; his great-grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Kaquatosh, Sr., and Warren Kaquatosh as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Evelyn; two sons, Albert P. Crowe and Guy D. Crowe; one granddaughter, Courtney Cadotte; his parents, Rachel Gristo Kaquatosh and Sylvester Kaquatosh; and four siblings, Marsha Hetchko, Rose Curry, Patricia Ponfil, and Sylvester Kaquatosh, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 11:15 on Friday, April 15, 2016 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Neopit with Rev. Joel Jores officiating. Visitation will be at St. Anthony's Community Center on Friday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
