Raymond M. "Steve" Teller, age 90 of Neopit, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Born on August 3, 1922 in Keshena, he is the son of the late Jerome and Rose (Warrington) Teller. In his early age, he logged with his father at different camps throughout the Reservation. Steve enlisted in the United States Army in 1940, serving his country in WWII, until his discharge in 1944. He then moved back to Keshena and was united in marriage to Mabel Mahkimetas who preceded him in death on April 22, 1962. Mabel and Steve were blessed with 7 children. On January 10, 1965, in Michigan, Steve was married to Shirley Crowe and they were blessed with 5 children. Along with all of his children, he raised 3 special nieces and nephews as well as several special grandchildren. Steve was a member of the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Neopit and was always helping people. Steve enjoyed many things; working on cars, playing cards - especially poker and cribbage, listening to country music, dancing, his many bingo trips, spending time with family and attending family gatherings, playing the guitar and harmonica and "watching his horses" as he called them - westerns. He also very much enjoyed his nephew, Nick's visits and listening to Nick play his guitar. In the spring, Steve made maple syrup, in the summer he would take the kids to the river to go swimming and in the winter, he always made sure everyone was plowed out. He is survived by: his wife, Shirley of Neopit; 9 children, 6 with Mabel, Stephen, Daryl, Gerald, Duane (Rita), Roarah (Willard "Buzz" Peters) and Dora Teller; 3 with Shirley, Anthony (Debra), David and Renee (Frank Thomas) Teller and a step-daughter, Marilyn (Jose) Arlequin. Steve is further survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, including special grandchildren whom he raised; Shirley Crow, Clarabelle, Latasha, Nathan, Brian Teller and Anthony Teller, Jr. and special nieces and nephews; Janice (Duane) Kaquatosh, Russell Teller and Jerome (Penny) Teller. Steve is preceded in death by: his parents; his first wife, Mabel; Mabel and Steve's son, Raymond in infancy; 2 children with Shirley, Clarabelle and Deborah; 5 siblings, Vernon "Vern", Russell "Poochie", John "Hugh" Jr., Lulu Teller and Crystal Nelson Teller. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Neopit with the Father David McElroy O.Praem officiating. Visitation will be held at the Teller residence, N1907 Midway Road in Neopit from 3:00 p.m. on Thursday until the procession leaves for church on Saturday.
