Obituary

Rebecca "Becky" J. Hooyman-Gruetzmacher, age 70, of Shawano entered into the warm embrace of her savior, Jesus Christ, on March 9, 2025. Becky was born on November 6, 1954, to the late Ronald J. and Audrey A. (Becker) Hooyman in New London. In 1973, she graduated from Hortonville High School. She then went on to work as a real estate agent for many years. She was very proud to have been able to be a cook in the HeadStart program in Shawano. From the beginning of her life to end of her life, she was devoted to her Christian faith. In Becky's free time she was an avid cribbage player. She enjoyed spending time with her lifelong friend from high school, Cathy Kramer. Together they would spend long hours out on the pontoon. She made wonderful memories with her sisters, Cindy and Rhonda fishing and playing Scrabble for all of their birthdays. Becky had a long anticipated fun time with her grandchildren.  The joy of Becky's life was being a loving mom and grandmother. She had a big heart, gave whenever she could and was an advocate for those who needed help. All in all, Becky was feisty to her core and a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be dearly missed.

Becky is survived by her children, Amanda (Chad) LaFever and Joshua (Cory-Lei) Fischer; grandchildren, Winston LaFever, Violet LaFever, Dylan (Bailey) Clapper and Julia Fischer; sisters, Cindy (Pete) Fannin and Rhonda (Gary) Vanhandel; and lifelong friend, Cathy (Dave) Kramer. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Audrey; granddaughter, Logan-Lei Clapper; and brother, John Hooyman.

A memorial service for Becky will be held at 11:00 am on Monday April 7, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clintonville, with Pastor Caleb Rothfuss officiating. Visitation will begin on Monday at the church from 9:00 am until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made out to the family and St. Paul Lutheran Church of Clintonville.

To the grandchildren, "Grandma loves you to the moon and back."

Josh and Amanda, "Mom loves you to infinity and beyond."
