Obituary

Rendell Alex Miller, Jr., age 39, of Shawano passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at his home. Rendell was born on April 25, 1987, in Oconto Falls, to Dina Dick and the late Rendell A. Miller, Sr. He worked at the Menominee Indian School District and was a professional uncle. Rendell was a funny guy who loved to heckle and stir the pot but always shared the good vibes, was full of energy and lit up any room when he entered. His voice was loud and powerful anyone could hear him, even the deer that he scared away. Rendell loved his children and his family never missed an opportunity to make memories. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting; during hunting he was your guide whether you wanted him to be or not. Rendell was a great father, son, brother, uncle and friend; he will be deeply missed.

Rendell is survived by his significant other, Virginia “Gina” Shawanokasic; their children together, Okemākīsekok “Chief Sky Woman” Shawanokasic; Maehkōnānakwatūhkiw J. Miller and Norbert G. Miller; his children, Rendell A. Miller, Jr., Emily E. Miller, Sylvia M. Miller, Nalia B. Daniels and Soraya E. Miller; grandfather, Gerald “Deeser” Dick; mother, Dina Dick; Dina’s children, Richard “Rico” (Helen) Dick, Lewis (Ashley) Dick, Rose (Eric) Dick, Jeanette Dick and Jerrick “Right Hand” Dick; Rendell, Sr., children, Wenona (Powless) Miller, Julia Cloud, Rhonda Madosh, Garret (Kato) Miller and Fredrick (Napota) Miller; stepmother, Carolyn Miller. He is further survived by special friend, Josh Lawe; special brother and sister, Pasquinell and Anita; special relative, J-Sack; very special aunt, Donnie Peters; special aunty and uncle, Erin Turney and Richard Turney, Sr.; and numerous, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and other loving relatives. Additionally, Rendell is survived by his sacred Sundance family, Micah Nickey, Alex “Chum” Peters, Alison Corn, Karen and Al Washinawatok and all other Sundance relatives.

Rendell is preceded in death by his brother, Dion “Don Dee” Dick; father, Rendell Miller, Sr.; and grandparents, Richard Dick, Rose Schrader, Margret Peters, Alex Peters, Edith “Babe” Peters, June Miller and Benjamin Miller.

A Traditional Service will be held at South Branch Community Center starting on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 11:00 am until Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 1:00 pm. At which time Rico will lead us on Rendell’s last ride to his fishing spots.

A special thank you to the pallbearers, Joshua Lawe, Riley Uttecht, Ian Borhegyi, Bruce Windorski, Kenewin Dickenson and Robert Leaman.
