Richard Lawrence Dickie, Sr., age 80, passed away in Shawano on Sunday, December 12, 2021. He was born on December 29, 1940, to the late Theodore and Lillian (Gristeau) Dickie in Keshena. He was united in marriage with Audrey Hayes until she passed away on May 5, 2014. Richard was in Golden Gloves Boxing 1948-1950. He was involved in both horse and bull rodeo and placed in bronc riding. He was an arborist and enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending his flower garden, planting trees, watching and feeding the birds, and believed in being mindful of the land. Richard enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The children will remember him most for his windmill and frosted oatmeal cookies. He loved his coffee and pepper.

He is survived by his children: Kandi Peters, Jeri Corn-Sanapaw, Macie Hayes, Richard Dickie, Jr., grandchildren: Brett Hayes, Richard (Emily) Hayes, Lorena "Sweetheart" Hayes, Ronald Dickie, and numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren: Evalynn Hayes, Jane Lillian Hayes, and numerous other great-grandchildren, and special cousin, Ronald Dickie. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Audrey, children Theodore Corn-Dickie during infancy, daughter, Nora Hayes, son-in-law, Joseph Sanapaw, brother and sister: Duane "Mokey" Gristeau and Elizabeth "Binky" Feather, special grandparents: Joseph and Ethel Gristeau and stepfather, Howard Tourtillott.

Visitation for Richard will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at 11:00 am at the residence of Richard Dickie, Jr., N2944 HWY 55, Keshena and will continue until the time of traditional services on Thursday, December 16, 2021. Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of the Menominee Nation at 2:00 pm.
