Richard Draheim, age 77, of Shawano, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026, in Green Bay. Richard was born on July 21, 1949, in Cooperstown, New York to the late Joseph and Hazel (Barnside) Draheim.

He enlisted in the United States Airforce from 1970 until 1974 where he was an aircraft mechanic on a C-130 on a Vietnam Tour. After Richard was honorably discharged, he enlisted in the United States Navy from 1975 until 1991 where he worked as a welder in San Deigo, California on three different ships in Japan, Australia, Thailand and the Philippines. In 1981, he met his future wife, Margaret Paczonay, while they were both stationed together in Guam. On August 21, 1982, Richard was united in marriage to Margaret in Guam. After Guam, the couple went moved to Pearl Harbor for three years until he reenlisted in 1986 and was assigned on the ammo ship USS Kiska in Concord, California. He retired in 1991, as a service connected disabled veteran. During the years, Richard and Margaret moved their family around the United States to Oakland, California, Pennsylvania, Idaho, back to California, Oregon, Texas before ending in Wisconsin in 2018.

Richard was a loveable, sweet, gentle, kind, attentive, independent thinker who was a calm quiet wise man. He could talk to anyone and got along with everyone. During those times, he had strong empathy and was very real when asked his opinion. Richard enjoyed reading, making jokes, telling stories of his adventures on the sea, his father on the farm and stories of his life. He loved working outside and always identified aircraft flying overhead.

Richard is survived by his wife of 44 years, Margaret; children, Kevin Draheim, Joseph Draheim, Anne Draheim, David (Jessie) Draheim, Theresa Draheim and Jennifer (John) Jones; grandchildren, Lilith Selby and Uri Draheim. He is further survived by the Hadley family, other relatives and friends.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents; and members of the Lyons and Hadley families.
